True to his promise to Roger Waters last year, David Gilmour joined Roger's touring production of The Wall to perform Comfortably Numb at London's O2 Arena on Thursday.
A capacity audience was astounded to see David appear atop the wall, recreating his parts from the classic album while adding his own unique sound and style, to the delight of the crowd.
That wasn't all. At the end of the show, Roger gave a gracious introduction to David and then Nick Mason, who joined David and Roger on Outside The Wall, with the band. Roger played trumpet, David mandolin, and with Nick on tambourine the ensemble trooped offstage, leaving the hall ringing with cheers.
Roger's current live version of The Wall is mid-way through its world tour and has been receiving rave reviews for its production values, updated from the original 1980/1981 shows, which at the time were acclaimed as the pinnacle of live musical presentation.
