Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd
This compilation, after a quiet few years following The Division Bell’s release and tour in 1994, and subsequent live album P.U.L.S.E., was a major retrospective on the career of the band.
It featured selections from many of the albums, bringing in key moments. The artwork was a fan’s delight - Storm Thorgerson, responsible for much of the band’s imagery over the years, along with Peter Curzon, created multiple subtle images which hinted at album covers, songs, etc., and ensured much discussion at the time as fans identified them all.
The nascent internet was leveraged and those who were online (chiefly via dial-up at that time) could collect virtual postcards, with a limited number of physical sets of these cards created to give as prizes to those who collected all of them online.
