More marked the first instance when Pink Floyd wrote music to properly accompany a film. In the previous couple of years, pieces of theirs had been used alongside footage, but only as an afterthought and there was little relevance.
For More, the director Barbet Schroeder had a different approach, wanting the music to seem appropriate to the scene, so in some instances, you hear the Floyd’s music played over a car radio, at a party, on a cassette player, and so on.
Recorded in around a week, some of the songs later became live staples for a while, and indeed, Green Is The Colour has even been performed on recent tours by David Gilmour and also Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets.
