With the subtitle of “A Bizarre Collection of Antiques and Curios”, Relics - featuring a hand drawn cover by Nick Mason, showcasing a craft of some kind adorned with all manner of details - was compilation put together to capitalise on the hefty touring the band were doing at that time, especially with their next album still being worked on.
It also gave a spread of music representing different eras and aspects of the band’s career to date. It pulled together a number of singles, a variety of album tracks, and the otherwise unreleased Biding My Time (which had been performed live as Afternoon during The Man & The Journey concerts which took place in 1969 (when the track was recorded).
