Wish You Were Here 50 gives fans an exciting new perspective into one of Pink Floyd’s most iconic and best-loved records. The 50th anniversary edition features the original album plus two discs of studio rarities including previously unreleased alternate versions and demos presenting Pink Floyd's eighth studio album in a brand new way that demands repeat listening.

Featuring 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond', the hypnotic 'Welcome To The Machine', the scathing 'Have a Cigar', and the essential title track, Wish You Were Here is undoubtedly one of the most important album releases in the history of popular music.

The record’s themes of absence, isolation, transience, and comment on the insincerity of the music business are embodied in the iconic album artwork. 50 years since its release, Wish You Were Here sounds as resonant and vital as ever. This special anniversary edition allows fans, for the first time, to delve deeper into a pivotal moment in Pink Floyd’s history.

A backstage pass for the last of the six shows Pink Floyd performed at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena in April 1975. Police confrontations at these shows was recreated in the opening sequences of Pink Floyd’s The Wall film.

An original publicity poster from Pink Floyd’s Australian label, CBS Records, in 1975 (the year of its release). It shows the “Invisible Man”, the salesman in the desert, and features the band name in a bold pink font.

For the 25th anniversary of the release of Pink Floyd’s 1975 album Wish You Were Here, in 1990, this publicity poster was created showing the various images of absence featured in the artwork. In the middle is the image drawn by George Hardie, used as a sticker on the black shrink-wrap the album arrived in record stores in. Behind the handshake (an often empty gesture) are the four elements, a nod to the four members of the band.

A backstage pass for Pink Floyd’s 1975 concert at the Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, New Jersey. The band’s pyrotechnics were augmented at this show with various fireworks and firecrackers deployed by audience members getting into the July 4th Independence Day celebrations early.

A reel-to-reel tape containing a very early, ‘rough mix’ of “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” from January 1975. More instrumentation and vocal work was recorded and work continued on the track until July that year.

This tape box from the Wish You Were Here sessions makes it clear that the titles are only provisional. At this stage, “Intro” is listed as a separate entity to “Verses 1 & 2” of “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”. “Welcome To The Machine” is also shown with its working title.

A more generic Pink Floyd backstage pass from the mid-70s. These were issued to key personnel, allowing access to areas that the public, and guests, would normally be excluded from. It shows the prism motif from The Dark Side Of The Moon.

Maybe unconsciously influenced by Pink Floyd’s 1967 song, Bike, the poster shows exploded elements of that sort of vehicle. It was another example of regular Hipgnosis contributor George Hardie’s careful and detailed drawings. Elements from this cropped up in tour ads and backstage passes, and a version of this poster was created and sold for the 1975 Knebworth concert.

A backstage pass, issued to key personnel, for Pink Floyd’s concert at Boston Garden in the city of the same name. As with the other shows on the US & Canadian tour in 1975, Echoes was the encore, a throwback choice after performing Wish You Were Here, The Dark Side Of The Moon, and tracks which would become “Sheep” and “Dogs”.

A stage pass, issued only to key personnel, for Pink Floyd’s concert in June 1975 at Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers Stadium. The show was performed to almost 50,000 which was a record for the venue, and featured an inflatable pyramid - this broke its mooring ropes and floated out the stadium during the concert.
