Storm Thorgerson, the world-renowned album cover designer, and childhood friend in Cambridge of
Syd Barrett, Roger Waters and David Gilmour, died of cancer. He and his team, Hipgnosis (later to
become Storm Studios), were responsible for most of Pink Floyd's iconic artwork along with many other top artists.

Pink Floyd mark Record Store Day, an initiative to help independent record stores by releasing limited editions
exclusively through participating stores (not online), with a reproduction of the See Emily Play single. It was
a one-off 7" pink vinyl pressing, together with a card insert featuring Syd Barrett's artwork.

The final 27 dates, performed in various European countries, of the Roger Waters The Wall tour commenced
with a show at the Gelredome in Arnhem, The Netherlands.
