Thank you for the concert of a lifetime; July 6 1977, the In The Flesh tour at Montreal’s Olympic Stadium. I know this show is infamous because of Roger’s spitting at a fan and David’s dissatisfaction with the performance, but for a 17 year old fan sitting on the the plywood covered Big O field 30 yards from the stage, it ranks #1 out of the thousands of concerts that I’ve attended in my lifetime (including other Pink Floyd, Waters and Gilmour shows).
The vivid memory of that show still percolates in my grey matter almost 50 years later. From almost getting crushed by the giddy general admission crowd rushing into the stadium, to lying on my back watching the inflatable pig carouse around the stadium, to Roger stopping “Pigs on the Wing” mid song and yelling at the idiots who were setting off fireworks, to the “unplanned” encore of “Drift Away Blues” while the roadies began wrapping out the stage and instruments.
What a performance, what a crowd, what an event!
THANK YOU!!!!
