I’m not exactly sure if this is how it all went down, but God knows I’ll give it a shot.
When I was about eight years old, I heard “Shine On, You Crazy Diamond” from my father’s garage, and stopped what I was doing (playing with action figures) to listen for a while. Something about it gripped me in a way nothing else did at that point, the lyrics and keyboard in the background mesmerizing me for all of three minutes before I lost interest, unable to fully appreciate the song at that point.
Roughly four years later, I was in the dining room with my father when he brought up Pink Floyd and said I should give them a listen. A week later, when I had some downtime, I sat on my bed, turned out the lights, and gave “Dark Side of The Moon” my first listen.
Fast forward a few years later, and I’m sitting here writing this for whoever will read it. I could write an entire essay on how your music changed my life, but to keep this short, I just want to say Thank You for Everything.
