My first experience of the band was when I was gifted a copy of The Dark Side of the Moon by my grandfather. While I had heard some bits of songs before that day, I had never known what they were or who they were by. Overtime I grew to love that album and naturally investigated the rest of your discography. The Division Bell was the second album I fell in love with, an album about communication and full of beautiful soundscapes that dominated the later years. From there, my love just kept on growing and now I have almost every studio album by them. But Wish You Were Here holds a special place in my heart as the first song of my grandfather’s funeral. When I entered the church and heard the song, I felt it was the best choice possible for him. In life, he was a fan of anything with a guitar in it, so he was a big fan of you as well, so to know that his love has been passed down to me through the donation of one record makes me respect and miss him evermore.
