I have often thought about what I’d say if I ever met you (are you reading these?!) and I’d say ‘Thank you’.
For me, your magic isn’t just wrapped up in the expanse you create through your music, the seering tones, the creeping bass lines, the powerful voices.
The magic also comes from you being my Dad’s favourite band. My love for you came from a wet day in our family caravan when I was 8, my Dad put his Darkside tape in the player and we sat and listened in silence. It comes from lieing on my Dad’s sofas after a long week for both of us and listening to the pummelling The Wall in it’s entirety (The Wall pt. 2 was our song). Pink Floyd was our band.
My wonderful Dad passed away in 2022, and Wish You Were Here was played at his funeral. I thank you for continuing to be such a palpable presence, one I can always visit when I want to feel close to my Dad (and I often do).
