I genuinely wish I could have been born just a bit earlier, specifically to live and breathe the era of Pink Floyd. To experience the massive cultural wave created by those four or five masterminds, and absorbing every damn album as they were intended to. While the internet lets us relive their artistry with perfect clarity, it is truly incredible how albums from half a century ago still carry the same, if not greater, cultural weight. The remix or 50th-anniversary release of Wish You Were Here is proof of this fact; hearing a new album or in superior quality makes us stop and reflect, vividly recalling the profound feeling of first encountering that monumental sound. Beyond their lasting influence, Pink Floyd, for as long as I can remember, has served as a touchstone for inspiration and reflection. I feel the vast majority of my motivation to pick up and learn instruments comes directly from them, and for that, and more, I am truly grateful.
