You changed my life, as you changed so many, the way the greatest art, film, music and literature can. The story of Sid sitting in the foyer of the studio unnoticed, unrecognized, unacknowledged as his long lost bandmates passed him by strikes me as heart wrenchingly, desperately melancholy and poignant. If rock n roll lore is accurate, the very songs being recorded as he sat there, ‘Wish You Were Here’ among them, were written lionizing him; performed to let love, respect and admiration for him ring loud and clear for all the world to hear as he sad solemn and unheralded. Just a shattering thought!
Such brilliant music! If pushed for a favourite, I’ll say, ‘Be Careful with that Axe, Eugene’, but it depends on so many variables. So adept are you at conjuring emotion. that the question might as well be ‘What’s your favourite feeling?’, or ‘What’s your favourite mood?’.
Thank you for the years of magic; because at a certain level, that’s what it truly is… Magic. Real, intangible magic.
