My first true exposure to Pink Floyd was when I was in my 20s at a festival… A Pink Floyd cover band was playing as I was immersing myself in festival fun. The world around me was responding to the truely moving tones and lyrics. I was transfixed. I lay in the grass and listened, and as they started playing wish you were here, the sky above me cracked open, breaking and swirling with colour. Time seemed to pause, an all encompassing echo chamber. Comfortable. Numb.
A life changing experience, and this wasn’t even the real band – just a tribute to their transcendent artistry.
Since then Pink Floyd have been a reoccurring soundtrack guiding me through life.
Thank you Pink Floyd I wish I had the chance to see you play live.
