I grew up with my dad and grandfather always talking about how great of a band you were. My grandfather even had a Dark Side of the Moon analog clock, with one of the noble gases in it. But despite that I never listened to any of your music up until about 3 years ago. I didn’t have any appreciation of the instrumentals, the lyrics, any of it.
But that all changed when my dad sat me down and had me watch The Wall film. After that I explored more of your music, and grew to appreciate it. It has helped me through some tough times in school, the loss of two close friends due to them taking their lives, and has helped me make new connections through shared love of the band.
The album Wish You Were Here has become my favorite due to the impact it has had on my life after one of the aforementioned tough times. So I’ve been pretty happy with the celebrations this year.
