I first heard you in 1996, when I was 13. It was a cassette tape, copied by someone else, containing tracks from the first PULSE CD, titled The Greatest Hits.
From the very first sounds of “Shine On You Crazy Diamond,” this music engulfed me, lifted me up, and stunned me with its majesty, power, monumentality, and epochal significance. Gilmour’s divine vocals and his emotive guitar, Wright’s shimmering keyboards, Pratt’s elastic bass, Mason’s always-on drums, the saxophone, the backing vocals, and sound effects blew my mind instantly and forever.
And the next time this music shook me was when I bought the official PULSE double CD and listened to the second disc, with The Dark Side of the Moon, and when I at least roughly understood the eternal themes raised by Waters.
The four of you, together, created a synergy, a magic where nothing was superfluous, where there were no gaps, where everything was balanced and of the highest quality. Pink Floyd is the love of my life.
Thank you ❤️
