Dear Pink Floyd,
Thank you for the incredible music you have given us. Thank you for bringing the sounds for the landscapes, the harder edges, insanity, the wonders, and the textures that pulls in the mystery unfolding in front of our eyes.
You were the soundtrack of my life since 1997, you were my Beatles, you were my introduction from hearing The Wall, Dark Side of the Moon, and Wish You Were Here. The music still holds up many years later and my introduction into the world of Progressive Rock.
The noise, the screams, the surrealism, your lyrics, your keyboards, and the dystopian worlds that the Animals unfolded in front of our eyes. You gave the so-called “Boy-Band” movement in the late ’90s/2000s the giant middle finger which it badly needed.
Between the early and golden years, I carry the Floyd flag for nearly 29 years. Whenever I hear ‘Echoes’, ‘Atom Heart Mother’, the pompeii version of ‘A Saucerful of Secrets’, you pushed the boundaries, you fellow comrades.
